Great monitor.
I bought this a year or two ago for 700, but i see the price has dropped to 550 now which is a steal. I originally had a 1440p60 24in benq monitor which was really for colour accuracy, not games. I did a lot of back and forth before buying this, there were mixed views on it as compared to the 1st gen OLEDs/ Ultimately i chose this as OLEDs still had inherent issues, were insanely expensive and there was a risk using it as a monitor. I wanted something big with punchy blacks (for Kerbal Space Program mainly) and a high refresh rate. So the good bits. - The blacks are fantastic, the bloom is pretty minimal, and the curve with at this size is fantastic once you get used to it. - The HDR is amazing and the peak brightness is insane, I run at about 70% in direct sunlight and I'm perfectly fine. Colours are absolutely gorgeous too. - 4K at this resolution is pretty bang on/ - Highly possible this is placebo, but my CS2 gameplay got better. that 165Hz is smooth as butter, I didn't expect just how good the transition from 60Hz would be. - Rear IO is good. Enough inputs for everything. - The rear LEDs are nice, the fronts are a bit distracting so I've locked them into static colour. Bad bits. - There is bloom - it's really not as bad as you'd think though. KSP made it obvious, but honestly my eyes are also a little blurry and it's not that bad. It exists, but it doesn't take too much to see past it. - The setup is shaky. Windows HDR isn't fantastic and takes some fiddling, and the monitor picture options are also not optimal, I ended up copying someone's settings off Reddit. I had issues with stuttering and flickering initially which might've been down to G-Sync, and it takes some messing with settings to get that to play nicely. - Viewing angles for anywhere outside the centre range aren't good. - This monitor is deep. The stand is massive and it sits so far ahead of the wall it's almost ridiculous. It's also a little wobbly. If i had the means to arm mount it, I would. If
Great image and colour, but software is lacking.
Great picture and colour, my only gripe is that auto input just straight up doesn't work so if you use this for multiple machines, it's annoying having to manually switch between inputs.
Stunning picture
I was concerned by the profusion of articles across the internet about Samsung's Quality Control, but still decided to go with this as I wanted a high refresh rate 4k monitor with good HDR capabilities without dealing with any of the OLED burn in drama (old enough to have dealt with that from CRT screens, no interest in repeating the experience) and VA panels have always been considerably easier on my eyes than IPS ones. My unit has no problems whatsoever. The colour balance is superb, the contrast is excellent, the picture and motion clarity are both exceptional. I have seen no scan-lines in any content, there are no dead-pixels, and the local dimming feature works properly. I actually had to turn DOWN the brightness in HDR content as the display is quite capable of creating genuine glare, which is a new experience for me from a computer monitor. The curve is slightly disconcerting for about half an hour then becomes imperceptible but it does create a slight oddity. I started out with the monitor as far back on my desk as possible—which is fine, but the typical "touch the screen at arm's length" advice makes for a much better experience. As mentioned by others, the stand itself and its connection to the monitor, while perfectly secure, wobbles when using the controls (or dropping a reference book on your desk) due to the swivel/adjustment mechanism. The only other minor quibble I have is that the "mood lighting" feature of the back LED which is supposed to colour cycle to match whatever you're viewing simply doesn't work and will always show some variety of blue. You can pick your own static colour perfectly fine though, and I honestly wouldn't have noticed this at all if I hadn't seen it mentioned elsewhere and chosen to check my own unit. I'm more than satisfied with my unit and would recommend it to anyone. Stunning monitor in SDR and HDR.
Amazon purchase. Best monitor I have seen yet. The curve is wonderful, first time having a curve and you have to see it to believe it. Do it. Mini LED which blows away IPS for me and it’s a VA panel but response and refresh at least on Nvidia are top notch. Zero bleed, perfect blacks, colour is good enough. Brightness can go up to blinding. Good OSD. It auto switches source, at least one way, easy to update firmware, this came with 1007. LED stuff is really good and the white is cold white, not warm, if you are looking for a clean white build. Lights all turn off when your monitor goes to sleep. I found these settings suit windows 11 and gaming. Vibrant with deep blacks. Picture Mode - Custom Brightness - 50 Contrast - 75 Sharpness - 60 Saturation - 50 Colour - natural Contract enhancer - Always on Local Dimming - Always auto Gamma - 1 Refresh rate - Highest Adaptive Sync - On Black Equalizer - 13 Buy it, especially at this price: £599.99. If it wasn’t for cheaper materials and the power brick, which is ridiculously big. It would be worth a grand. Enjoy!
Flickering and stuttering mess (returned)
Running on a 4090/7800X3D DP1.4 This monitor flickers when you enable adaptive sync. The software update resolves this by providing an option for "VRR Control," which introduces micro-stuttering, which is very noticeable when playing FPS matches, as it impacts your targeting; especially in competitive games I have returned this, and I highly recommend that you do not buy it Just google "Samsung G7 flickering"
