Awesome little device with a little know-how

5 stars overall but with some caveats. The x4 pro is a bit too big to comfortably magnetize to the back of my phone (iPhone 17 pro) with the size of the camera bezel but that is okay for me, I bought a small case and just keep it separate in my pocket. Device is small and portable as intended and fits comfortably in my pocket while out and about and at work even with the added size of the flip case. E-ink display looks great especially with the added backlight with warmth settings. The standard OS that comes on these isn’t great. It’s a bit clunky and leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily if you’re a little tech savvy you can easily put custom firmware on it that makes the experience much better. Very easy to follow guides can be found with a quick google search. I’m currently using CrossInk. It looks great, improves quality of life, is quick and responsive, and turned this device into exactly what I wanted. I’m pairing this with the Brick device for my phone to lock myself out of social media and turning to this to read books on my breaks and lunches at work instead of doomscrolling. The magnetic charging adapter doesn’t have a very strong hold and I’ve had some issues with the weight of my charging cable disconnecting it and having to sit it just right to stay in place. Luckily the battery life is great and i don’t need to charge it often. Basically, out of the box it is just okay. With the custom firmware it’s exactly what I wanted but that took some extra work on my part. For a tech savvy person this device is easy to get everything I think you’ll desire out of a mini ereader but for someone not good with computers it may leave a lot to be desired at the current price point. If you’re willing to put in a little extra work with it to get it exactly where you want it I think this is a no-brainer but if you want to just use it right out of the box its fine, but you may not be entirely satisfied. Absolutely worth it!

Amazing, wonderful value for the price! I flashed it with CrossPoint right away. IT CAME WITH 30 BOOKS ON THE SD CARD! Sorry for the caps but it's more than enough classics to keep me busy for a while. So far everything seems great, wonderful palm size, super responsive with CrossPoint, feels and looks very sturdy and premium, battery seems legitimately what is advertised and is very easy to use and navigate. Yes the pogo stick is obnoxious, but I'll live. Feels great holding it one handed, easy to read for extended reading sessions. Xteink is an amazing company so far in my experience, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what their future holds. They seem to listen to their customer feedback really closely.

Great e-reader for people who don’t need anything crazy

I really like it! It’s perfect if you are someone who doesn’t need all the bells and whistles of other, far more expensive, e-readers! It’s a great price for what it is, and all of the accessories for it are also really inexpensive so if you really wanted to deck your reader out, it’s easy. It’s got a good battery life, nice and lightweight, the customizability of having your own wallpaper is very nice. You can set various gestures to do different things. File transfer is fine, a little annoying but not the end of the world, if you’re attached to Libby or kindle, this e-reader isn’t for you as they are DRM protected and you can’t transfer those files onto any XTEINK e-reader. But there are plenty of other places to get epubs and transferring the files is easy if not a little tedious (making sure your reader is connected to wifi as it randomly disconnects after a while) For me this is the perfect little e-reader. It’s the perfect size, the perfect weight, it fits in my hands really well, it’s easily portable, I can take it on car rides and use it at doctors’ appointments easily. Makes reading at night a lot easier too, I have a later sleep schedule than my husband and it’s nice to not have to worry about keeping him awake with a lamp or making my eyesight worse by reading is super low light.

still no USB Data Transfer

I spent HOURS trying to get this to work. I STILL cant connect using USB. I updated it twice. finally had the calibre option in settings network to show up. Im running Licorice 261014. through Calibre wireless i was finally able to get a book onto this ereader. I still cant figure out how to get the USB data transfer to work. I thought it was my cable so tested it on my ipad. the cable has data transfer so thats not the problem. Ive been to CrossPoint, none of that is working for me either. seriously HOURS i worked on this, followed every instruction i could find on the inteernet, used google AI to try and help me diagnose it. Im running an older PC so maybe thats it? But I game on that PC, like Subnautica kind of games, heavy graphics. Still no USB data transfer. I finally got so frustrated i put down. I did read the book for a while though. I like it. its light, fits right into my pocket. attaches to the back of my phone with a magnet. Its not very strong though. falls off very easily. Ive been using my kindle paperwhite 2020 for a few years now. this is much lighter, and faster, but its not fun to set up and i dont like the fact that I cant transfer books via USB. what if i dont HAVE wifi? Im not really unhappy, just disappointed. I wanted to buy one for my son when the grey ones came back into stock but now Im not so sure i will. i still gave it 3 stars because once you finally do get a book on there, its a great little device. Im not sure i want the hassle though.

Great For Anytime Reading

Be sure to upgrade the firmware, it came with some very old initial firmware which was not an ideal experience. They have currently really made leaps forward in the experience. Page turning is way faster on the new firmware. It is cute how it tracks the time, the phone app it connects to is a bit wonky, but the device by itself can stand alone. The cloud sync makes it easy to transfer epubs, fonts, images to the device with relative ease. The light and color tone options really make this easy to use at any time of day. Super light, magnet against the back of a phone. I have an S26 Ultra, with a case, and it hangs off just a tad. Disappears into the pocket if by itself. Makes reading very easy to turn it on and pick up where you left off. I wasn't a big reader, but am finding myself picking it up more often that I thought I would.
