Love it
The Sega Megadrive was my first console back in 1992 and this remake is just fabulous. The device is an exact smaller replica of the original. The controllers are true to the original as well. The menu is really cool and the games run like you have the cartridge in the console. Highly recommended if you are nostalgic like me.

Sega Mega Drive – mini – : sorpresa inaspettata e meraviglia!
Qualche giorno fa mi sorprendevo di un cosa: mi sono recato all'interno di un noto Store dell'elettronica di consumo e, non appena dentro, in via del tutto automatica, mi sono diretto verso il reparto videogames. “Sono” del 1970. Tra qualche mese compirò mezzo secolo di vita. Eppure, notavo, come quel comportamento sopra descritto è esattamente il medesimo di quando ero adolescente e, testimone del “boom tecnologico” che ha portato all'avvio dalla c.d. “Rivoluzione Digitale”, mi recavo negli Store di consumo di allora, sempre desideroso di vedere, guardare e farmi sorprendere da una poltiglia di pixel colorati. Le passioni, quelle vere, non muoiono mai, ci seguono in tutte le fasi della vista e si adattano a questa perché, ritengo, che chi smette di giocare non diventa adulto ma diventa spento. La premessa è fondamentale per cogliere lo spirito della mia recensione che non sarà, come qualcuno può aspettarsi, incentrata su aspetti troppo tecnici (la rete è piena zeppa di informazioni in tal senso) ma, semmai, focalizzata sulle sensazioni che questo nuovo arrivato è stato capace di trasmettermi. Partiamo, dunque, con le mie impressioni. ASPETTO E MATERIALI: Il Sega Mega Drive Mini si presenta, a mio parere, con un indiscutibile aspetto “premium”, soprattutto rispetto alla concorrenza. Possiedo tutte le mini console sino ad ora in commercio, grazie al mio superpotere che riesce a trasformare in scontrini i soldi del mio portafogli (cit. “Doctor Game”) e devo dire che in questo caso siamo ai livelli massimi di quello che si può ottenere in tale ambito. Gli assemblaggi sono precisi, non ci sono sbavature. La console è una riproduzione pressoché perfetta e in scala ridotta (penso in un rapporto 1:2), dell'originale. I dettagli sono ricercati e sono lì dove devono essere. Tutto è curato, a partire dall'inserto in plastica lucida in corrispondenza della scritta “16-bit”. Einfach HDMI-Kabel an den TV anschließen, das USB-Stromkabel irgendwo reinstecken - und los geht's: Ganze 42 SEGA Mega-Drive-Games warten darauf gezockt zu werden! Bei den Einstellungen empfehle ich das voreingestellte 4:3-Format und die dunkelblauen Disco-Kacheln als Wallpaper => und die Spiele erstrahlen in scharfem Bild. Auch der Sound klingt absolut Mega-Drive-typisch: melodischer Synthisizer und raue Gitarren-Sounds. Das Gehäuse der Mini-Konsole repliziert herrlich das Original; die Control Pads fühlen sich sehr vertraut an: sowohl das präzise 8-Wege-Steuerkreuz als auch die 4 großen Tasten A, B, C und Start erlauben dem Spieler die volle Kontrolle. Die Minikonsolen-typische Eingabeverzögerung ist kaum wahrnehmbar, die Emulation der Games insgesamt sehr gut. Die vorinstallierten 42 Spiele decken ein großes Spektrum an Spiele-Genres ab; mehr Abwechslung geht kaum: Platformer, Jump'n'Shoots, Shoot 'em Ups, Brawler, Rollenspiele, Beat'emUps, Metroidvanias (Wonder-Boy-Reihe!), Rennspiel (Road Rash 2), Pseudo-3D-Action, Tetris & Co. Einige Spiele lassen sich zu zweit spielen (deutlich mehr als auf dem Super Nintendo Mini). Kein Wort verlieren muss man über die hier vertretenen 16-Bit-Meisterwerke: Sonic the Hedgehog 1+2, Phantasy Star IV, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, Probotector: Hard Corp, Castlevania: The New Generation, Shining Force, Shinobi III und Monster World IV sind SEGA-exklusive Referenztitel, die Auge in Auge den Spitzenspielen auf dem Super Nintendo gegenüberstehen. Dazu kommen berühmte Multiplattform-Titel wie Earthworm Jim, Mega Man oder Street Fighter II SCE! Hinweis: Wer Castlevania und Contra (Probotector) ungekürzt bzw. nicht entschärft spielen möchte, muss die System-Sprache auf Japanisch, koreanisch (oder auch chinesisch) umstellen => dann werden die unzensierten Versionen in der Auswahl angeboten (Castlevania => Vampire Killer). Wenn man Englisch einstellt, sind ebenfalls nur die entschärften Versionen für den europäischen Markt wählbar.
