Good radio for the price
This little radio works good and had good audio for such a small radio it pulls in distant stations on AM really good its easy to use after getting used to the controls on it and its got a rechargeable battery that works really long
fantastic small radio
the R108 is a fantastic small radio at this price. pros: 1. AM, LW, SW, FM stereo, Air band. 2. receiver sensitivity is very good 3. has VF/VM button allows switching between memory and vfo / frequency modes* and allows scrolling through memory using the tuning dial 4. ATS feature scanning and saving strong stations to memory cons: 1. small BL5C battery. haven't tested how long a fully-charged battery lasts yet. would have preferred AA's or 18650's but that would make the size bigger minor niggles: 1. VF mode - you need to press the FREQUENCY button to enter a frequency. there's already a VF/VM button to switch between modes. why the need to press FREQUENCY? use this button for some other function. 2. cannot jump to a specific memory location by pressing the number keys. comparing to the D808, D808 has SSB and uses a bigger battery, however, usage/ergonomics on D808 is poor. you cannot delete a memory, cannot scroll through memory using the tuning dial. navigating memroy is a nightmare. you need to first press page, select a page, select a memory to go to that memory. that is very cumbersome to do. D808 defaults to memory mode. if you manually enter a frequency and press a number key, it will jump to that memory location and you will lose whatever frequency you were previously on. D808 would have been close to perfect had it addressed these usability issues. R108 - only real thing i would have liked to have was SSB capability. I wouldn't consider no SSB a con, because it's 1/2 price from the D808.
Good tech in a small radio
I don't know why this same R-108 model is less with this nameplate vs. the other one from the same manufacturer, but it's a good deal. The gray is a small amount darker than the main stock photo, which was disappointing at first but makes the orange labels easier to read. I have both colors. I bought the black one first, despite being tired of black radios, because I thought the orange-on-gray would be hard to see. Turns out it's not a problem. Fantastic reception, love the fast/slow tuning toggle (click the knob) and durect frequency entry. Reception is great. This is the radio I can hear stuff others can't get. Sound quality is perfect. Full response range. Bass is clear and audible, but not excessive. Very clear, full, and natural. And no buzzes or rattles at high volume. One of the best I've heard in a radio this size. It's built well allaround. Parts fit well. Buttons feel good. Rubber pads on the bottom. I would prefer a bigger battery than a bl5c. I know it's a small radio, but I wouldn't mind it being just a bit bigger. However, you can get 2 spares from the manufacturer at a good price and they are easy to carry. No weather band, which is not claimed but would be more useful than LW or air. I wish more of these high-end models had that.
Great value on multi band aviation receiver

SIHUADON R-108 Portable Radio
Nice radio for the price and well made. Pulls in a good number of stations with plenty of memory. Very clear instructions.
