Great knives at a great price point
Love these knives! They are so much better than the last ones I had and stay so much sharper in the self-sharpening block. I have never been able to slice a ripe tomato with a non-serrated knife before and these do it with absolute ease. I am re-educating myself on how to properly use good knives and am actually enjoying some of the chopping chores I used to hate. Highly recommend these knives. They are reliable at a decent price point for everyday home users. I am so happy I decided to toss out all my other prep knives. These are all I need!

Looking Forward to Using This Set
After considerable research, I determined that the Henckels Classic 7-piece Self-Sharpening Knife Block Set best met our needs. One, Henckels has an excellent reputation. Two, we have had a set of Henckels steak knives for years that have held up well. Three, we are not avid cooks, so could not justify investing in more expensive knives. Four, I like the self-sharpening aspect of this set, as I am too lazy to constantly maintain the desired sharpness. And they are sharp! We just purchased this set, so cannot yet report on its use, but with proper care, we look forward to years of satisfaction with this set.

This is a nice mid line quality knife set
Nicely balanced, appear to be able to hold an edge, (not sure about the self sharpening feature yet) and good value for the money. Replaced my very old and tired set with these and I'm very pleased so far.

a small "flaw" with the block
The block is my one disappointment. If the base of the block could have a blunt cut on the back, it would not stick out so far on the counter top, My kitchen is small and counter space at a premium. The block comes out too far on the counter for me. I have to turn the block sideways on the counter when not in use. This means that when I need to use the knives I have to turn the block a quarter-turn to have access to the knives and turn it back after use. The knives are great, well balanced and have a good hand-feel. Look forward to cooking and cutting with these knives for many years.
