Works great
After reading some of the negative reviews, I don't find any reason to complain about this Swiftcam 18MP camera. The software seems fine and I don't see any slow performance issues. If I change anything, the image on the PC screen updates immediately. I give it top marks! Go for it.
Works great, software is meh
Rather than spend nearly $500 on an attachment for my Sony camera, I though this would be a more integrated way to photograph microscopic images, and it is. 18 mega pixel is a reasonable resolution for web images and printing (8x10, 11x14 sizes). The software is a bit clunky, but works, so 4/5.
This Camera's a Total Dud
How do I loath thee, let me count the ways. Software and manual are not intuitive, hard to understand and difficult to use. Too much time spent on endless unimportant and little used features and not enough on how to simply record photos and videos, save them, retrieve them, and export them. For instance, before enabling video, there are two or three check-offs that must be satisfied before the camera rolls. By that time, the pond water specimen is long gone. Then try to find saved photos and videos which are buried in an obscure directory somewhere within the bowels of Windows 10. Colors are horrible and refuse to stabilize. Images tear when panning from one section of a slide to another. Followed explicit calibration directions which didn't work properly. Images not as sharp and crisp as one would expect from an 18MP camera. Swift Optical tech help never answered two emails sent them via customersupport@swiftoptical.com. If you're an engineer and computer geek you might have a chance. However, one kudo: this was the best packaged product I've ever purchased, very well designed and superb materials. Made it easy to send back.
Shocked how much better this works than using Celestron Pentaview (an LCD only microscope)
Originally got a Celestron Pentaview (5 MP camera--no eyepieces) and this camera with the Swift 380T trinocular microscope is so much better and costs a negligible amount more. Software is easy to use, I'm using Mac. I highly recommend. Middle school kid is spending alot of time with it.

The build quality is robust, software is good. image quality is suffering. I photograph mineral specimens, some turned out just ok some awful. I tried hard to get good photos to no avail. Returned it.
