Nice and repairable Linux Emulator
I got exactly what I wanted from this device: a versatile handheld emulator in a package that resembles the old Gameboy Advance SP. The buttons feel nice under the thumbs and fingers and the joysticks are fine, though a little awkward to use with adult hands. The case is nicely built and the hinge feels good overall, but I've only had this device for a few weeks so the long term durability remains to be assessed. It's worth noting that I wasn't crazy about the look and feel of the factory OS so I moved over to Spruce OS. This in turn made me round up ROMs and BIOS files on my own. I also immediately swapped out the factory SD card for a higher quality one and wrote a spruce app to backup sensitive files to the factory SD card in the second slot (might as well get some value out of it). I'm a techie and enjoy doing this kind of thing, your mileage may vary. I designed and 3D printed grips to compensate for the joystick placement (that also fit with an acrylic case on the bottom section) and can play pretty long sessions without discomfort. Again, if you don't enjoy a bit of tinkering and deep customization, your mileage may vary. Grips are available for sale or for printing from a variety of sources if you don't want to fully DIY. The included chipset and RAM is so far plenty for PS1 and N64 emulation along with anything less demanding. I've even gotten a number of NDS games that don't rely much on touch screen functionality to play nicely. It doesn't have the firepower for Gamecube or PS2 emulation, but it wouldn't be fair to expect that of this hardware. In short, the Flip V2 does what it says on the tin. If you're like me and want a very particular experience from a device like this and you're willing to tinker a bit to get it, then it becomes a ton of fun not just to play but to customize. Worth noting as well is that the Miyoo website has a number of replacement parts available for low prices (screen, battery, hinge). Having already meddled about in the guts of
