Highly recommend this little beast of a projector

Honestly blown away by this XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K Laser. I had the original Elfin Flip (1080p LED light source with XGIMI OS) and this is miles ahead on every front: - The 4k resolution matters incredibly when projecting at 110'' (280cm diagonal) like I am doing. - The optical zoom is amazing to tailor the projector to your exact space, avoiding the wasted pixels of digital zoom that my original Elfin Flip relied on (at 1080p you really felt the resolution take a hit). - I am seeing triple to quadruple the brightness compared to my original Elfin Flip side-by-side, which makes it usable during the day in a shaded room, or at nights with the lights completely on. Of course dimming or turning off the lights reveals the true potential of this little beast. - Colour accuracy and HDR10 support make every content look incredible. - The optics/light source/DLP chip (I'm not sure which one, although I guess it's a combination of the 3) are incredibly precise, with very little chromatic abberations / color fringing. Similarly, even at a slight angle from my wall (I am projecting at about at 30° horizontal angle from being completely perpendicular/dead on), the edge sharpness remains excellent. - The pixels are actually angled at 45°, so that they are diamonds not squares, which I find very smart to reduce screen door effect as it doesn't align with the square pixels of the content. - I can notice some laser speckle, it's slightly annoying but worth the quality of the image compared to my OG Elfin Flip. This is also probably not something a more expensive Laser model could fix, so I don't hold it against it. I am projecting onto a white wall, no projector screen, so that might contribute. - EDBL is a very nice to have, although it's implementation is not perfect and it sometimes takes a few seconds to return to full brightness, it does help in dark scenes to preserve details and contrast. - Setup was relatively quick (Google TV standard setup). The Google TV OS is very capable,

A travel projector that finally gets the important things right

I’ve owned more projectors than I care to admit, including models from XGIMI, JMGO, and Nebula, and the Elfin Flip 4K has become my favorite “grab-and-go” projector. What surprised me most wasn’t just the image quality, it was how easy it is to actually live with. The Flip design protects the lens, the projector is compact enough to toss into a backpack, and setup only takes a minute. Unlike some portable projectors that feel like compromises, this one genuinely feels premium. The image is incredibly sharp. Native 4K combined with the RGB triple laser produces vibrant colors and excellent detail. I found the picture noticeably crisper than several other portable projectors I’ve owned. For movie nights and casual gaming it looks fantastic. The Google TV interface is fast, Netflix is officially supported, and the optical zoom is a feature I didn’t realize I’d appreciate so much until I started moving it between rooms. There are a couple of things worth mentioning. I actually disabled the automatic obstacle avoidance and screen alignment features because I preferred setting the image exactly how I wanted. Once disabled, it has been rock solid. Also, since it doesn’t have an internal battery, you’ll need power wherever you use it, but that tradeoff allows it to be much brighter than battery-powered competitors. For me, this has become the projector I take on trips, move around the house, and use whenever I don’t want to drag out a larger home theater setup. Pros * Outstanding 4K image quality * Compact and easy to transport * Excellent Google TV experience * Optical zoom is genuinely useful * Great value for the performance Cons * Auto setup features can occasionally be overzealous (easy to disable) * Requires AC power If you’re looking for one projector that can move from the bedroom to the living room to vacation without sacrificing image quality, I don’t think there’s a better option anywhere near this price point.

Movie nights at home are now so much better

We set this projector up in our bedroom and projected it straight onto a white roller blind. Once the room was darkened, the picture was incredibly sharp and bright, much better than I was expecting. Watching movies this way feels surprisingly close to having a home cinema. The automatic setup made it quick to get going without spending ages adjusting the image, and the built-in speaker is perfectly fine for casual viewing. I also like that it’s portable enough to move to another room if we want a bigger screen elsewhere in the house. It’s been a fun addition for family movie nights, and I’m really impressed with how well it performs.

Movie Night, Upgraded

The XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K portable projector has become the preferred way to watch sport and movies in my home. With a screen size larger than any TV in the house it turns movie night into a night at the movies. First of all let’s talk about setup. As it runs Google TV, setup is as simple as logging into (or creating) your Google account, then all you need to do is point it at a screen or light-coloured wall and the projector will do the rest. Yes, it will automatically adjust itself to the surface, completing keystone and size adjustments automatically. There are manual adjustments you can do, but throughout my testing I haven’t had any need to use them. In just a few minutes I was up and running. The Google TV interface has been quite responsive and easy to navigate with the included remote control. Adding and removing apps has been a painless experience and so far all of the apps work really well. I don’t own a screen (yet) and my walls are various shades of beige (exciting I know!), yet it didn’t matter. The projector can compensate for off-white surfaces and the whites in the images come out looking white. Even projecting onto a very cream coloured window blind the image looked really impressive. Yes, you do need to dim the lighting in the room, but that’s pretty standard for most projectors in this space, having said that though I was getting pretty good images even with daylight leaking through. The image quality is excellent. Even as the screen size is pushed towards its upper limits the image quality remains good, with images remaining sharp and clean. Of course the larger you go the dimmer the overall image becomes, but that’s to be expected when you have the same light source being projected over a larger area. For reference the largest projection I have done to date with this device measured in at around 170 inches and it looked great. The addition of built-in Harman Kardon audio is also impressive. Most projectors are let down by their rubbish built-in sp

Surpassed my expectations

Blew my expectations away. It fits on a camera tripod as well so that was a nice bonus. I've yet to test all the features but it's bright, clear, and I couldn't notice any speckling. The optical zoom is invaluable, allowing me to fit the picture onto the available space on the wall... The auto keystone which is 4 point works very well as does the focus. There are so many configuration options I'll need to test out. It has a high power mode which will make it louder as the fan kicks on, but in default mode it's silent, can't hear it even when nothing is on. Brightness, even with room lighting overhead in front of the projector (it's a ceiling fan with 3 bulbs) I can still see the image... 3 led 60 watt bulbs at 100% it's washed but you can still see... at 25% or lower it's great. If it's got a background light behind the projector as opposed to in front... it's fantastic. The interface is smooth and fast. All said and done it's incredible. I can't wait to also use it in the classroom to project historical biblical maps for the students to visualize and get context. Gaming with controllers, oh I can't wait.... One of my intentions was to game at night. Worth the same price of 799, although it hurt. Anyhow, hope this review is helpful!
