Very smooth organic sound
Amazing musical sound. I have an Atom 2 dac/amp. That's set up gives me a very clean sound. I wanted to be able to have a more organic sound. It's a smooth warmer sound than my Atom 2 amp. Not quite as detailed but more musical. I'm very happy with the Vali 3 tube amp. I will keep both depending on the music I'm listening to. The Vali 3 made a big difference with my Hi-Fi man Edition XS headphones. It mellowed out the highs just right. Perfect for jazz and vocals. You can even change to different tubes (tube rolling). To change the sound even more. It's a little more expensive buying it on Amazon. But with Amazon there's a lot of benefits. No shipping charges and an easy return policy. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Very Happy with This Amp
I'm driving a pair of hifiman edition XS with this amp and the openess and airyness was instantly improved compared to headphone jacks on my various electronics. Dynamic range is much better and the bass is tighter. Also there is zero background noise or hiss. I installed a jan 5670 W tube and the highes are getting even better as the tube and unit get a few hours on them. This won't be my only schiit purchase.

Schiit Vali 3: HYBRID Tube Magic for $179!!!
The Vali 3 is a serious upgrade. With a full 100V on the tube plate (way higher than most budget hybrids), it delivers impressive power (1.5W into 32Ω), dead-silent backgrounds, and a smooth, dynamic sound that’s way more refined than its price suggests. Stock 6N3P already sounds excellent! It's clear, engaging, with nice tube warmth and excellent drive for both easy and demanding headphones. As a preamp, it’s equally capable. The best part? It’s built for tube rolling. Swap the single tube for options like the GE 5670W, 2C51, ECC42, CV4013, or even MY FAVORITE,the WE396A. Each roll subtly shifts the flavor, making it warmer, more open, or extra detailed. It’s cheap and easy to experiment (with the exception of the WE396A, which will rrun you $100-$150. It's compact, USA-made, and ridiculously fun. Pair it with a Modi 5 for an unbeatable desktop stack. Buy it. Real tube character without the usual compromises.

swapped stock tube for 5670W
not much online in terms of reviews so i went by all the glowing reviews of the Vali 2. i added this to my mixing desk in an attempt to find something more similar to the target systems (satellite/subwoofer, bluetooth buds, bluetooth speakers, car audio). it's impressive how much of the music and harmonics you can hear given the cottoniness. i am not really disappointed except to say that reviewers need to emphasize the extent to which it colors the sound. pretty none the less once you get used to it. i think i want to try different tubes to hear the difference. for mixing i give it 3 stars, for listening pleasure 4 stars. if you find compressed mids and high mids irritating like me this is a great unit! i have it paired with SMSL SU-1 DAC Edit: swapped out the stock tube for a 5670W for a big improvement in clarity and less cottoniness. would give 5 stars for the upgraded Vali 3!

Dont just hear the music, feel the music.
I think this little box is wonderful. Previously to this I was just running my mass-drop hd6xx off my scarlet 2i2 that I use for my mic. The sound is very clean and clear, but very sterile. Which is useful for video games or audio monitoring, but watching movies or listening to music was lackluster. Now, I just run the line outs of the 2i2 into the vali 3, power it on and switch my headphone cable over to it when I want to use it. The sound itself is phenomenal. The way that notes or beats fizzle out instead of cutting abruptly, the warmth and spatial arrangement of sound. Hearing backing vocals as two distinct sets of lyrics at once. It truly makes listening to music so much more enjoyable. I don't really have any bad things to say other than I wish they could've put the power switch on the front of it, so I don't need to reach behind it. Other than that, I'm pretty strapped for complaints. Highly recommend it if you're looking to up your audio game at a reasonable price.
