An Unusual Amp, Great for the Right Buyer!
The Douk G7 has an unusual design and feature set. It is set up to drive two pairs of speakers and you can select either pair independently or hear them both together. There are three analog stereo inputs, one balanced and two RCA. So the one input you select can be amplified and sent to either or both pairs of speakers. It is NOT a "4 Channel Amp" in the sense that each speaker pair cannot be receiving signal from separate inputs. So having the second set of speaker outputs will only be useful if you have two pairs of passive speakers that you run side-by-side, or in different rooms. Note also that each speaker output is driven by its own TPA 3255 chip. If you only connect one pair of speakers, one of the TPA 3255 circuits is left idle, they don't "bridge." But also note that the two chips share an internal power supply, so the potential peak watts going to one speaker pair is much higher when only one pair is driven. The G7 is a usable as a very simple integrated amp, with volume attenuation and bass and treble controls. All three of those controls can be bypassed with the touch of a switch if you prefer to use an external preamp. So the versatile G7 can be used as strictly a power amp as well. Nice additions include the presence of a trigger control input (in my case it powers on the G7 automatically when an attached Fosi Audio ZP3 preamp turns on), and a very easy to use remote control. There are front control status lights to confirm speaker and input settings. And obviously there are the big VU meters which will be a major draw for some, and a dealbreaker for others. I like the look, but I also wish that users could select colors for the lighting, and I wish that there was an option to turn the lights off altogether. The sound is really good. I cannot detect an audible noise floor, and the 10 amp internal PSU allows a lot of power to speakers that need it without clipping or detectable distortion. Compared with my Fosi V3 monoblocks, the V7 presents a very sim
