If you have a compatible mini pc or laptop it will work great.
This thing does exactly what it says. It just works. I Hooked it up to an old HP Prodesk 600 G2 mini. I Plugged the included oculink adapter to the mini pc’s m.2 slot and it fired right up without any issues. Before I tried the eGPU i made certain to update the mini pc’s bios and all the drivers. I also got all the windows 11 updates installed before starting. I used an older 500watt psu and a GTX-980 GPU with this eGPU dock. I Downloaded the GPU drivers and everything works flawlessly. Because the oculink adapter takes up the nvme m.2 slot you have to use the ata SSD connector for your storage needs. People having connection issues using this eGPU dock/adapter are running into computers that are not compatible. Generally when it doesn’t work it is not the adapter/eGPU docks fault but that of the pc your connecting to. The other issue generally is that it’s not always easy to know if your mini/laptop etc is compatible with an eGPU. One way to find out is go to the iegpu website that shows many working configurations where adding an eGPU worked. There you can get help to resolve your issue if you’re having one. The key here is to do your research first to see if it’s viable before you start. This cannot be over stressed. I ran GPU stress tests with FurMark on this older 4GB vram GPU. I got about 61-65 frames a second and in real world gaming tests using Borderlands 3s built in bench test with high settings I got on average of 61-63 fps at 1080p. Before I added this eGPU to the HP mini-pc the game would not run at all on the integrated UHD-630 graphics. I will be trying a GTX-Titan with 12GB of vram next to see how it performs. One other thing I should mention is that I installed Windows 11 pro on a mini pc that does not meet the hardware requirements for that install. This presented absolutely zero problems. Overall this dock is solid and works as advertised right out of the box with a pc that is compatible. I highly recommend this dock. I will be 3D printing a pc ca

Working great so far - 4 days in
I’ve been using this eGPU for about 4 days now, and so far everything has been working well without any issues. The setup has been smooth, and the GPU is performing as expected. It’s a great way to add desktop-level graphics performance to a mini PC while keeping the overall setup relatively compact. It’s still too early to comment on long-term reliability, but after 4 days of use, I’m happy with it so far. No problems or instability encountered yet. So far good 👍

Best eGPU dock I've used
As simple as it is, this is the best eGPU dock I've ever bought. Combined with a direct 16-pin power supply, it easily runs a 5090 over Oculink. Many other eGPU enclosures that come with a power supply only have three 8-pin connectors which will not work for higher end quad 8-pin GPUs. It is simple to put together, offers great thermals, and is fairly cheap. This is a great piece of gear.

A cheap and open solution for adding extra GPU power to your rig... Maybe not ideal...
This little hookup is pretty nice. It works directly with my motherboard, and it's a good way to add some extra horsepower externally without having to worry about overfilling and overheating your PC case. I use this as an additional CUDA set for a Comfy UI Stable Diffusion local setup. I have a 16 GB 4080 as the main card, and this is hooking up an additional 8 GB 3070. The OcuLink hookup is fast enough to let me access the additional 8 GB on that card to render AI workflows. I have to partition it out in the flows and all that, but it definitely helps to make a budget local rendering system. And it works. Not easy. You have to know a little bit of what you're doing, or at least know what questions to ask. The value for the money is good. The card I initially bought for it didn't work out, but the 3070 did. I have it sitting in a small but open area next to my PC. This gives the compact, solid setup proper airflow. I have a standard power supply hooked up to it that I'll also review that works well, though I needed to disable the LED lights on it. Consider this for a cheap, and maybe temporary solution to tinker with audio and video AI workflows, or more horsepower for editing, or mostly what have you. I don't really see the need for gaming with this. Do know you're gonna need a OcuLink connector. My Mobo didn't have one natively, but the adapter for one the PCI-e is quite inexpensive. This comes with a cable, but you might want to invest in a better quality one.
