PERFECT FIT FOR UNRAID BUILD
I bought this for my most recent UNRAID build in a Jonsbo N3. It fit perfectly and so far its been fantastic. The included cables were a big contributor to the purchase and they also seem to work so far with the back plane and drives no problem. I am currently running SATA drives but have a couple SAS drives on the way to test with. Partially for the controller partially for the Jonsbo N3 Backplane.

I have this in a NAS running Debian Linux with 8 16TB WD Reds hooked up to it. Everything works out of the box with my configuration, with all the drives in a ZFS RAID 5 Pool. I don't see any I/O bottlenecks either with this card. If you need something simple to build a home NAS, I'd definitely go with this.
Invisible upgrade!
So good! Literally plug-and-play with my NAS! Running out of space in my TrueNAS server, and prepping to add some more drives as upgrading my individual drives would cost way too much. I mean really... spinning rust is 'old hat' now, there is no reason why large drives cost more today than they did 10 years ago! But I digress... this at least kicks the problem down the road. Install was super-simple! Powered down, added the card, removed the old SATA connections going to the motherboard, and connected the SATA cables that came with the card. Powered up, and TrueNAS didn't skip a beat! It found the card, found the drives, and booted without any issues at all. No noticeable difference in performance, it was truly an 'invisible upgrade' which is something of highest praise for these kinds of devices! Now I have space to add 8 more drives to the motherboard, and expand the Z-Pool, and have created an even larger upgrade problem for future-me to deal with when faced with upgrading 16 HDDs... unless I add another one of these cards :) My understanding is that these come in multiple firmware options, and it can be tricky to change the firmware to be compatible with your setup. If you just want to do a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Drives) passthrough and present your drives to a software Raid like ZFS, then this is the version of the product for you. I believe if you get the other firmware options where the card does more of the drive management then you can get additional features, but those are all effectively disabled with this firmware.
No need to flash to IT Mode, it's already there.
Excellent product. Worked without issues or adjustments required. From my experience the HBA is fast and so far reliable. This HBA already being in IT mode made for a simple installation and adoption in TrueNAS Scale.
