Easy mounting install, great performance
Bought it to fill in some dead spots in my garage and backyard, proved to be better than I expected and can extend way further out into the house. The setup is as you would expect for any Mikrotik product, it'll vary based on your experience with the ecosystem. FYI, you don't have to reset before mounting if you want to do CAPsMAN, it can be done through winbox.
If you want to learn the network
If you want learn full control of your network this will let you learn all of the settings and how the actual network does, you have to fully understand then make setting suits or you will fail at the first stage, my combo is RB5009 and this one together works like charm
Excellent, as always.
There really is no case for buying anything from Ubiquity as long as Mikrotik keeps doing what they do and one has half a brain to manage it.
Good for detailed setups. Doesn't have the range of other APs.
This works great for super detailed configurations with VLANS etc. Also works well with Mikrotik routers and capsman etc. However not something I would recommend to a normal end users due to the technical setup requirements. The range is fairly limited as well. We have it located in the center of the house (which isn't overly large) and get some limited signal in places.
Great for advanced networking
Steep learning curve with RouterOS, but once you understand it you can do quite a lot. Handles vlans well although the configuration is not straight forward at first. It has been a rock solid PoE access point for the past 6 months. There is a mobile app that makes setup slightly easier for the uninitiated. MikroTik also offers some free training on their Youtube channels, although the UI versions shown are sometimes out of date and have slightly different options when trying to follow the setup walkthroughs.
