Solid Monitor

Let’s be honest, this is really just a 4K monitor. Once you’ve gamed at 4K, the 1080p mode is hard to take seriously. The higher refresh rate is nice, but 1080p after 4K feels like going back to an 8-bit NES. I came from a 1440p 240Hz monitor, and I can definitely notice the drop from 240Hz to 160Hz. That said, the loss in refresh rate is minor compared to the improvement going from 1440p to 4K. I didn’t expect resolution to make that much difference in gaming, but I was wrong. I also tried a QD-OLED before settling on Mini-LED. Both were huge upgrades from my old VA panel. The OLED had perfect blacks, but the text fringing bothered me badly. Text and fine edges had that red/blue “TikTok logo” look. The Mini-LED doesn't have that issue. There is some slight blooming with Mini-LED where OLED would be perfectly black, but it’s minimal to me, and only noticeable if you don't have any lights on in the room. Coming from VA, the overall improvement in contrast and picture quality is still huge. Personally, I’d take Mini-LED over QD-OLED, and I’d take 4K over 1440p. I’d still buy the highest refresh rate you can afford because the difference is noticeable, but if I have to choose, I’ll take the crisp detail of 4K at 160Hz over 1440p at 240Hz.

4k mini led - mp27p6 - Honest Review

I purchased this with my own money, and this is my honest review of it. TL;DR: Compared to my other IPS monitor, it looks largely the same. IPS glow is still very noticeable with local dimming set to Auto, and only slightly improved in certain cases on Standard or Low. Haloing around the mouse and subtitles remains unless local dimming is reduced significantly. At that point, overall brightness and color suffer, making it no better than a standard IPS with the brightness turned down. The local dimming zones don’t come close to delivering an OLED-like experience. AI formatted to reduce my rambling and make more sense, my thoughts, just better (?) Background / Why I Upgraded After more than 8 years with my BenQ XL2730 (1440p, 144Hz TN), I finally felt the itch to upgrade. I went back and forth between a 1440p OLED and a 4K Mini-LED IPS and ultimately chose the Mini-LED. Why? I spend 8+ hours a day working and maybe 1 hour gaming, so text clarity mattered I was used to TN panels with very vivid, punchy colors I value brightness and color pop more than perfect blacks OLED subpixel text issues still made me hesitate plus the 2x cost for a good one. I’ll also admit I often preferred SDR over HDR on my old display, since HDR sometimes felt muted or bland in certain games. First Impressions My first unit arrived completely destroyed (thanks, shipping), but Amazon replaced it quickly. I appreciated that, since I really wanted to give this monitor a fair shot. Once set up properly, the brightness and color immediately stood out. Playing Minecraft with my kid and watching the sun rise honestly felt blinding—in a good way. This panel can get very bright, and vivid colors are definitely its strong suit. Which once you see the external power supply to run this thing it makes sense. HDR in 'No Rest For The Wicked' colors are also very good. Day-to-Day Experience What’s Good Brightness & Color: Extremely bright with strong, vibrant colors Text Clarity: 4K IPS is noticeably better f

8.5/10

Pros: performance, features, price is great, good pixel response Cons: changing between HDR/SDR is buggy, awkward OSD controls, some inverse haloing in dark scenes; dual mode 1080p is bilinear filtered If you can drive 4k gaming, it's excellent

Quality control issues, received 2 with defects.

I bought two of these a couple of months back. The first monitor was great, the second had a huge spot of pink light shining through the picture, especially noticeable in dark pictures. Fine, bad units get by, I return it and get another one that has a much smaller but still noticeable pink spot in almost the exact same place. This is less noticeable so I just kept it but still two of these with the same issue in the same place on the screen shouldn't have gotten through twice in what might have been a bad batch of them. If you get one that works it's a great value, but paying hundreds of dollars for a defective product is not a good experience.

Best picture I've ever seen on a monitor

Best monitor ever good price great picture you have to tweak with the settings a little bit just a little bit but other than that it's the best monitor I've ever had I hope it lasts a long time because I really love the picture
