Great Dual-Screen Handheld for DS Gaming

One of the things I really love about this handheld is being able to use either Android 14 or Linux. The stock OS is actually pretty good on its own, but I installed GammaOS because I wanted the added features and customization it provides. The build quality feels quite good in my hands. Nothing about it feels overly flimsy, and the controls have been better than I expected. The analog stick stays where I want it instead of jumping all over the place, the D-pad has a good feel to it, and I have not had any issues with the buttons double pressing. It may not be the fastest handheld out there, but that really is not why I got it. I wanted it mainly for DS games, and that is where it makes the most sense. Having two separate screens makes those games feel much more natural than trying to fit both displays onto one screen. The screens themselves actually look great too. Games look noticeably better to me than they do on an original DS, with a cleaner and more vibrant image. That ended up being more important to me than I expected because it makes older games feel a little fresher without changing what I like about them. I have heard there may be a newer version of this handheld coming, but honestly, I am happy enough with the screen quality and how well this one handles DS games that I have no plans to switch to something else for that purpose. GammaOS gives me more control over the software side, but even the stock setup is quite usable. For me, the combination of dual screens, good controls, strong screen quality, and solid DS performance is what makes this handheld worth having.

Very Disappointing

I enjoy video games and I really was looking forward to playing games on this console. However, I found the UI to be incredibly confusing and non-intuitive. I honestly thought playing games would be straightforward and easy but it looks like a hassle. So in short, I never played a game on this console. The physical product itself seems to be well made. The buttons have a nice resistance, the touchscreen is pretty responsive, and it comes with two screen protectors. However, if you can’t actual use it for its intended purpose then none of that other stuff matters.

Unique dual-screen handheld with plenty of retro gaming potential

The RG DS stands out immediately thanks to its foldable dual-screen design. The clamshell form factor helps protect the screens during travel, while the two 4-inch IPS displays open up interesting possibilities for supported emulators, multitasking, and Android applications. Screen quality is impressive for a handheld in this category. Both displays are bright, responsive, and offer good viewing angles. The touchscreen functionality works well for navigating Android and games that benefit from touch controls. Performance from the RK3568 processor is solid for retro gaming and everyday handheld use. It handled classic console emulation smoothly and provided a good experience with many Android games and applications. The Android 14 operating system feels modern and gives access to a wide range of customization options. The controls are comfortable, and the foldable design makes the system easy to slip into a bag or pocket without worrying about screen damage. Battery life was respectable, and the 4000mAh battery provided several hours of gaming before needing a recharge. One feature I appreciated is the flexibility offered by the dual-screen layout. Whether using compatible emulators, reference material, maps, guides, or multitasking applications, the extra screen creates opportunities that traditional handhelds simply don't offer. Overall, this is an interesting and capable handheld that combines retro gaming, Android functionality, and a distinctive dual-screen design into a portable package. It's especially appealing for users who enjoy emulation and want something different from the typical single-screen handheld.

Good Quality, Great Controls, and Solid Battery Life

This handheld feels like good quality overall. The battery life is solid, the graphics and resolution look good, and the controller and buttons feel wonderful and responsive. Game selection has been great, and I’ve had no issues with movies or other media either. It’s a nice device that does what it’s supposed to and makes the whole experience enjoyable. Overall, a well-built handheld with good battery life, smooth controls, and a quality feel.
