Works well, takes a while to figure out how to use it

I am relatively new to handheld gaming devices like this, so part of the setup work for me (still) is figuring out how to get the emulators I want, how to load games onto it, etc. Even after a decent bit of searching this is still taking effort from me. There are plenty of buttons for mapping and it is comfortable to hold. You can set it up with your google account as well and access games through google play. It was not easily compatible with other common gaming platforms, like I couldn't just access and play my steam library. Battery lasted throughout the day with intermittent gaming. The screen is not huge but gets the job done. Overall, this is a fine purchase if you are comfortable with setup but for an easier and more user friendly experience might try something like the steam deck if the price is approachable.

Pricey but capable. YMMV, but I can't put it down.

The AYANEO Pocket S Mini is an impressively capable handheld with excellent build quality and enough performance to emulate a wide range of classic systems. The controls feel premium, the display is sharp, and Android provides a lot of flexibility if you're comfortable setting up emulators and tweaking settings. That said, I wouldn't recommend this as someone's first retro handheld. Like most Android-based emulation devices, getting the best experience takes some work. You'll need to source your own games, configure emulators, map controls, and occasionally adjust settings for different systems. If that all sounds familiar, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're expecting a plug-and-play experience, this can be frustrating. The 4:3 display is another tradeoff. It's fantastic for older consoles like SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, GameCube, and many PS2 titles, where games were originally designed for that aspect ratio. However, it feels limiting for modern Android games and newer widescreen titles, which either display with large black bars or require cropping. Battery life is respectable, though more demanding emulation will drain it fairly quickly, and the device does get noticeably warm under heavy loads. None of that is unexpected given the performance packed into such a compact handheld. Overall, this is an excellent niche device. For experienced emulation enthusiasts who specifically want a premium 4:3 handheld, it's easy to recommend. For newcomers or anyone hoping for an all-purpose portable gaming device, there are probably better options that are easier to use and better suited to modern games.

Nice game pad, maybe a little expensive...

This is a nice portable gaming device. It has decent graphics, and it's great for travel since it's small. The processor does OK at high-res games like Genshin. It can play this particular game for about four hours, with the fan running on high most of the time. The price is decent, as a similar phone would cost about the same price. It uses the Android store for it's market place and game download store. Overall, the device is good, feels well built, and the controls all work as desired. It does require signing into the Google Play store to download games, unless you want to try to sideload things. Could be better if the battery lasted a little longer. Graphics quality could also be improved (likely to increase cost).

An awesome beautiful 4:3 device

I have always wanted a really pocketable device that has a four to three aspect ratio that can play some of the classic games including systems like PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. These systems displayed games natively at four to three ratio and most screens now are a 16 to 9 ratio. This one is beautiful and has such a nice look to it at a high resolution. The build quality on this handheld is incredible. Has it's a fusion of glass metal and a little bit of plastic to bring together a super premium fi has it's a fusion of glass metal and a little bit of plastic to bring together a super premium feeling handheld that is super pocketable. Based on Android, it also can do more than just play games, including anything. A normal Android phone can do. It has super premium feeling controls that are responsive and feel great to play. It also has the power to properly play Sega Saturn fully using the beetle core. Make no mistake. This is a well-crafted beautifully designed handheld that is worth the premium asking price. I think I have found my perfect everyday carry handheld.
