No AU Adapter for PSU
Purchased this unit from Australia and it does not come with the AU adapter for the PSU Apart from that, setup was easy, unit looks understated and has a small footprint. Signal strength was about the same as the ASUS RT-AC66UB1 which it replaced, but speed is better. Configured old ASUS router as AIMesh Node and again, setup was easy and wifi coverage is now excellent throughout home.
ASUS RT-AX59U (AX4200)
I was looking for a new router with WiFi6 and VPN to replace my old Netgear. I found both the AX58 and this, the AX59. The form of this router is much more aesthetically pleasing than the 58, and with VPN mentioned in the description and the user manual, I went for the AX59 It's a really neat little unit. The netgear had been hidden away out of sight because it was an ugly brute, but the AX59 is the size of a hardback novel and sits quietly on the shelf with just a glowing white light to show that it's working. Setup was simple, plug in the router cable and go to 192.168.50.1 from your laptop and you start the setup routine which asks you how you intend to use the router. With the wifi setup, it was time to test the reception (with the router placed in the same place as the netgear for comparison). The signal strength in the upstairs bedroom that would normally drop out was really strong, and I got 36mpbs on the download test (60mbps line), through two thick brick walls. Sitting next to it I am getting -31dbm. There are 4 ethernet ports on the router, one for Wan and three for normal use. In my setup, the wan port connects to my ISPs router. No special setup was required here. One port connects to an upstairs switch to provide low latency for gaming. You can configure the IP address range the router uses for devices if you need to change it. The other reason I needed a new router was for builtin VPN, specifically the Wireguard client. This is found under VPNFusion and allows you to either manually configure the client or import a config file. I used a config file and the VPN connected straight away. After that, the only thing to do was to add devices to it. This means that only the devices you want to use the VPN will do so, so you can have your phone/laptop using it, but not your games consoles. When you add a device and apply the settings, the UI logs you out which is a little annoying. Also, to add or remove devices, you have to turn off the VPN. Otherwise it wor
GREAT OpenWRT Router
I got this router because it's affordable, has a GREAT SoC (4c@2ghz), and has wonderful OpenWRT support. After flashing it, it took me a while to figure out how my ISP-provided modem+router would work in tandem with this, as the control panel was quite locked down on top of being sluggish. I installed SQM and set it to use Cake, which cuts down my bandwidth from 500/125 to about 480/120 and bumps up the CPU usage marginally, but it is a *small* unnoticable tradeoff for how stable it was in return. I went and monitored the CPU & memory usage and whilst maxing out my bandwidth provided by my ISP, the overall cpu usage never exceeded 50% and the memory consistently stayed below 30%, meaning there is plenty of room for more customization. Throughout streaming on multiple devices, downloading large files and playing games/streaming too, it didn't hitch a bit. It has pretty decent coverage, reaching up/down one floor and to the outside too whilst maintaining a minimum of 35mbps~ which is very usable, alongside good latency. Would recommend buying this if you're going the OpenWRT path and want a more stable network (with customization in mind as well, OpenWRT is a handful, in a good way.)
ASUS RT-AX59U - Please so far
This is my sixth Asus router and I am very pleased with it so far. Having it working in about 30 minutes (very similar to my earlier models) it seems to be rock solid. I have more exploring to do with it probably as I have only had it for a few weeks.
نقطة توازن مثالية بين القوة والسعر والثبات
وقع الاختيار على هذا الراوتر كراوتر مؤقت بعد تعطل راوتر سابق علمني معنى التضحية بكامل السرعة في سبيل الاستقرار 8 سنوات وكان اختيار جيد خلاني اشيل فكرة البحث بعده تصميم مثالي ماياخذ حيز كبير ومن خلال قاعدة الراوتر والي تعتبر حامل جداري في نفس الوقت تقدر تفكها وتثبتها مباشرة في الجدار بمسمارين وتعلق عليها الراوتر رغم ان الراوتر من فئة تعتبر متوسطة الا ان المعالج 2.0ghz والرام 512 وبسرعة 4200 ميجا في الثانية مدى تغطية الوايرلس تعتبر جيدة وبعد الإعداد الأول انسجام تام وتوافق مع الاجهزة المعقدة والي غالبا ما تتطلب فتح منفذ مثل xbox وكاميرات الحماية مع مرونة في بروتكولات الحماية اكثر من غيرها مع الطابعة ونقاط اعادة التوجيه والنظام الصوتي والي كنت سابقا اقوم بإعادة ربط وتكوين عبر تطبيق الشركة بين فترة واخرى ويبدو ان اسوس راعت النقطة هذي في السوفتوير ولم يتطلب الوضع المزيد من الإعداد ومن تجارب قديمة مع اسوس وهذا رأي شخصي اشوفها افضل وأرتب واجهة لرواتر مع حماية متطورة تضم اهم مميزات التي تبنى على انظمة لينكس لتناسب المستخدم العادي بمجرد تشغيل الجهاز والبدء في الإعداد واعطاء عناوين ثابته للأجهزة حسب الأولوية دخلت في الاسبوع الثالث بلا انهيار او إعادة تشغيل او عدم استقرار وحرارة تكاد لاتُذكر بإختصار نقطة توازن مثالية بين القوة والسعر والثبات واعادة الثقة في منتجات الشركة السلبيات مع اعادة الثقة لراوترات اسوس كنت اتمنى ان اعطي خمس نجوم لكن اصرار اسوس على تجاهل اللغة العربية وهذا النقد الثاني بعد سنوات من شراء راوتر آخر وبحكم تخصصي في انظمة الشبكات لا تفرق معي الا انني اجدها تقديرا من الشركة أن تراعي لغة المستخدم.
