Looks just as awesome in person
Love this keycap. Looks awesome on my new mechanical keyboard. I think this awakened something in me. The other keys are looking sparse.
Thought it was cheap at first, but upon closer inspection, actually super high quality.
Oh let me tell you, when I first got this I thought I was duped, like it was like a doll toy with a key attached. But I was wrong. It's actually a really well made custom print that is immaculately finished. That's why I thought it was just some molded piece of plastic. Under a jewelers loupe, I can see very faintly the telltale signs of a 3D print. it's just so well polished that there is none of that 3D print texture and it's polished to a glossy finish almost. The super thin supports are even polished. The transparent part also has the rings if you look SUPER close, you cannot see it with the naked eye but you can see the rings. The part where you attach to the keyboard is a custom mold too, unlike any surround I've seen before so I'm sure it's custom-made. Light shines through the translucent flame nicely, be it north or south facing LEDs, since the artist designed the translucent stem to extend a little bit more to the north and south to accommodate either LED position. I was quick to pin a cheap label on this at first but I just didn't immediately recognize the artistry and design and production quality that went into it. It is a really high-quality piece and I think it's a great addition to my collection.
One Expensive Little Cat Key You Didn’t Need, But Might Consider Anyway
It is just a keycap. One. Not even a set or a keyboard, but one single 1U resin cat. But here comes the part where I actually admit that this product isn't really bad looking. There is a pink kitty face made of handcrafted resin in a combination of somewhat gloss and frosty finish which will look amazing when illuminated by RGB keyboard lighting. It is compatible with Cherry MX style switches and fits most mechanical keyboards at the ESC key location. And this is so cute. It is even a bit suspiciously cute. As far as the functionality goes, it performs the basic role of a keycap properly. It is well fitted, doesn't feel cheap at all, and supports RGB shine-through layouts. Even the keycap puller is attached, although you won't need it as this item seems to serve as a decoration rather than functionality. And that's pretty much the point of it all. Not necessarily “bad”, but one key. For the equivalent of $20. You can call it craftmanship, unique design, personality customization, whatever will make you think this price isn't just for you and your sense of humor. It's exactly the kind of purchase you make when your keyboard functions completely alright, but your brain tells you that it's not good enough anymore emotionally. And so yes. It's cute. It sits well. It glows nicely. And it's worth what a whole peripheral used to cost before the emotionally unstable era of the internet.
