So many colours!
I’m very much a hobby crafter rather than a serious artist, so a set like this appeals to me because it makes it easy to sit down and be creative without needing to know exactly how to mix every colour from scratch. The sheer range of colours is impressive, and it’s fun being able to pick a shade that is already close to what you want rather than spending half your time experimenting. ive been using cheap student type stuff that flakes and cracks and i was sooo done with it. these have been so good and the unboxing experience was actually satisfying like it was just packaged so nicely. the case itself is this really pretty blue which is sooo aesthetic and it also feels really strong. when i first lifted it up i was like wow this is heavy but that makes sense because there is 112 colours of paint inside. the lid snaps on perf with four locks which is good for keeping the paints fresh but i opening it takes some effort sometimes, the handle is soft and doesn't get in the way when i am carrying it around. the best part is 100000% the paint quality. the texture is thick and creamy and it glides on paper without skipping, i used it on cold press watercolour paper and it covered really well even the light colours over darker ones which is a huge winnn with gouache. the pigments are vibrant and you can tell they are highly concentrated, i was worried about the colours being too similar but tbh theres enough variety to work with, i did find some shades that are very close to each other but you can always mix your own if you want something else. one thing i need to be reallll about is the maintenance.like all gouache pain this is not a set you can just open once and leave for six months, once you peel off the foil seals on the double cups it is exposed to air. i had to take an hour just to open all the seals which was tedious. you need to mist it with water or the special spray to keep it from drying out. i also read somewhere you should keep it in the fridge to prevent mold which i do now. if you are lazy about maintenance this might not be for you but if you treat it right it lasts forever. pros heavy duty case that protects the paints 112 vibrant colours thick creamy consistency like no patching ice blue aesthetic double cup design keeps the paints moist and sealed highly pigmented paint that dries to a nice velvety matte finish non toxic great value p
Beautiful colour range and fantastic paint quality, but packaging needs improvement
The HIMI Double Cup Gouache Set (112 Colours, Ice Blue Case) is absolutely stunning for artists, hobbyists and beginners alike. The colour selection is incredible, with a huge variety of vibrant shades that blend beautifully and make painting really enjoyable. The double cup design is clever and helps keep the paints moist and easy to access, and overall the paint quality itself feels smooth, creamy and highly pigmented. It’s a fantastic set for both professional artwork and casual creative projects. However, for something at this price point, the presentation and packaging are disappointing if you’re planning to gift it. While the paints do come in a protective case, the entire unit arrived simply in shrink wrap with no proper outer box or premium presentation, which makes it feel less gift-ready than expected and offers less protection during shipping. The other small downside is that the lid can be a bit fiddly to open and close, especially with such a large set. That said, the actual paints themselves are excellent and very enjoyable to use. Overall: a 4.5-star gouache set ,gorgeous colours and great quality, just let down slightly by the packaging and fiddly lid design. 👏🎨
A pleasure to use
I really enjoy trying new art paints but have not tried this gouache before. This particular gouache set is very attractive in its own carrying case with 112 half pans of paint. First impressions were good. The entire case is quite heavy at 2.38 kg as you would expect from 112 colours with 12g of paint. All the paint pans had the name of the colours on the top label along with a colour chart. However if you want to see the actual colours you will need to close the case and turn upside down or open the double cup. The top foil labels are difficult to remove so if you destroy the label you will need to use the colour chart for guidance. From a painting perspective the paint is thick and juicy and dries true to the colour chart. I found the paint worked best on paper with some tooth such as cold press watercolour paper. The paints can be reactivated with water if they dry out.
